To strengthen our team in Hallbergmoos, we are looking for an experienced:

Scientist Formulation (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • Design and establish (automated) workflows for (pre-)formulation development including sample handling and analytics to establish a comprehensive physicochemical knowledge base of drug candidates under storage and stressed conditions for IV and inhaled delivery
  • Responsible to continuously improve and expand the current formulation development platform by evaluating and establishing new technologies
  • Utilize statistical science knowledge for study design and data analysis
  • Troubleshoot (problem diagnosis and repair) of laboratory instrumentation within the Formulation Development group
  • Maintain records and document experiment results following quality principles (GxP-like), continuously optimize the process descriptions and their documentation in protocols, reports and SOPs
  • Support process development for drug substances and drug products by using expertise and knowledge of scale-down/scale-up principles, identify critical quality attributes for formulation and drug product development
  • Represent the Formulation Development group in product specific project meetings, present the work at group, department and cross functional meetings as well as during discussions with our renowned gobal biopharmaceutical research partners and CMOs/CROs

Our Requirements

  • M.Sc. and 3+ years of practical (ideally industrial) experience in protein characterization and formulation development or PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering or related scientific area
  • In-depth technical expertise with protein characterization techniques to identify and resolve potential activity failure mechanisms including aggregation, denaturation and chemical modification
  • Demonstrated (hands-on) experience with (U)HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, capillary isoelectric focusing, and methods to determine thermal (DSC, TSF) and colloidal stability (DLS/SLS, SEC-MALS, HIAC, FlowCam) with focus on their application in protein stability assessment
  • Experience in automated (pre-)formulation development and data analysis
  • Ability to critically analyze data using statistical tools and to compile technical reports; working knowledge of DOE is a plus
  • Experience on inhaled protein delivery and dry powder formulation is a plus
  • Experience with the evaluation of excipient effects in both liquid and dry powder formulations of biopharmaceuticals will be an asset
