Senior Director Project Leadership

Your Tasks:

  • Leading the Therapeutic Project Leaders to develop integrated cross-functional project implementation plans (including CMC, regulatory strategies and clinical protocol design), coordinating these development activities to achieve the project goals, championing the project vision throughout, drawing on an internal and external resources.
  • Leading the development and implementation of consistent communication guidelines as well as governance and decision processes for Pieris’ therapeutic projects.
  • Overall responsibility to develop and integrate supporting governance tools and guidelines, which will be applied consistently across all therapeutic projects.
  • Overseeing and guiding the generation of plans, proposals, timelines, and budgets to allow clear direction of the projects and enable alignment of resources.
  • Monitoring pipeline progress, costs, resource allocations, timelines and develop corrective actions if deviations occur.
  • Closely interacting with all relevant R&D Department Heads (Discovery, Translational/Preclinical, CMC, Clinical, Quality assurance, etc.) in order to identify resource bottlenecks, align priorities and ensure open communication and close collaboration between project leaders and R&D departments/functions.
  • Becoming a constructive member of the company’s extended leadership team.

Our Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in Life Science, preferably with a focus on immunology or oncology.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in drug development, ideally from early to late (clinical) stage projects.
  • The ability to lead and inspire a team of dedicated and highly qualified experts with full budgetary and disciplinary responsibility.
  • Experience in the implementation of R&D, communication and governance processes is highly desired.
  • Experience and understanding of all aspects of drug development i.e. research, preclinical, CMC and clinical development.
  • Strong experience in project leadership obtained through participation in and leadership of cross-functional and matrix teams with a proven track-record of success.
  • Proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and manage projects to ensure quality, timely, on-target and within budget accomplishment of tasks as well as to determine what resources and talents are needed for the rapid progression of the projects.
  • Evidence of good clinical and scientific judgment. Ability to interpret the significance of preclinical and clinical data, and to anticipate the information that will be needed to satisfy regulatory requirements for early and late stage studies.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with partners and multiple senior stakeholders.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. German language skills preferred but not required.
