Your Tasks

You will effectively lead a team of scientists and technical assistants in Selection Technologies:
  •  Planning, coordination and oversee execution of phage and yeast display campaigns of Anticalin proteins using Pieris’ Anticalin libraries
  • Constantly drive optimization of selection processes
  • Close collaboration with project leaders, other team leaders and department heads to coordinate and set priorities for your team
  • Representation of your team in project meetings within Pieris and with our collaboration partners

In addition, you will have the opportunity leading a discovery project as Project Leader and taking over the following tasks:
  • Responsibility to advance a proprietary or partnered early stage Anticalin project to a defined preclinical stage
  • Within our matrix structure you will closely interact with functional area heads and lead scientists from the different R&D departments to guide the project from setting up the research plan over Anticalin selection and characterization towards preclinical development
  • Critical review of scientific data and guide decision in close collaboration with functional area experts
  • Communicate progression of project to internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and monitor project timelines, budget and resource allocation

Our Requirements

  • Ph.D.  or equivalent in life sciences or related field (e.g. biology, biochemistry, biotechnology)
  • Several years of experience in working in an industrial environment
  • Strong technical and theoretical background in phage and / or yeast display, high throughput screening and protein biochemistry
  • Strong experience in the setup of ELISA experiments and HTS campaigns
  • Deep knowledge on the discovery of therapeutic proteins i.e. antibodies and / or scaffold proteins
  • Proven project and team leadership skills and experience in leading multidisciplinary project teams
  • Background in Immuno-Oncology and / or Respiratory is advantageous
  • Proven team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead, guide, motivate, and develop team members
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
  • Excellent software knowledge for analysis of large amounts of data and profound knowledge in operation of automation equipment
  • Experience with data management systems and project management tools is highly desired
